G.W Carver Center Hours of Operation:  Road to Success,  Monday - Friday  9:00am -2:00pm, Carver Youth Center,  Monday- Friday: 2:00pm-7:00pm. Open Gym, 4:00pm - 6:00pm. For compete hours please refer to the calendar.


A Fond Farewell: Youth Center’s Director Retiring: Cheryl Massaro the Director of the Flagler County Youth Center and G.W Carver Community Center is retiring on December 31st. Cheryl opened the Youth Center on October 1st, 2005. Over the last 13 ½ years, Cheryl along with her staff have developed a programs for students to participate in, including one of the best summer camp programs in the area. In 2011, Massaro took over as director of the G.W. Carver Community Center, in a revitalization of the Carver Gym. Under her leadership the program has become extremely successful including the addition of the Road to Success program.Ms. Massaro would like to bid a “Fond Farewell and Thank You” to Flagler County School Board, and Flagler County Board of Commissioners, for making this dream a reality. Plus a “Special Thanks” to: all supporters, participants, families, and staff who helped build these wonderful programs for Flagler County youth and community.  

Road To Success Program:  RTS has helped 181 young adults earn their GEDs to date with 24 of those earning honors.   RTS is a year-round program and we are enrolling now for December. RTS enrolls 45 students per year, we focus on GED prep, life skills and pre-employment training. Over the last several months RTS has had 95% of students graduating with their GEDs and a job or post-secondary education. Events this month included: Students completed their First Aid & CPR certificates, Food Handlers Certificates, went to Daytona State College in Palm Coast for a tour and lunch, met with Flagler Technical Institute’s Travis Thomas for an program overview, Sayskids presented life training skills, Wells Fargo completed banking and financial literacy class.  Students, staff and quest also enjoyed a Thanksgiving Luncheon at Golden Corral. The new interns completed a month of, on-the-job training at the Habitat for Humanity’s thrift shop. Happy Holidays from the RTS staff. Holiday Events: Saturday, December 1: Team We Care: Toy Drive and Basketball Tournament, 3;00pm Admission an unwrapped toy or $5. ALL proceeds to benefit the local community. On Friday, December  21st, Emanuels Holiday Giveaway will take place in the gym, starting at 5:00pm.  Finally on Saturday, December 22nd, Nelson’s Christmas Basketball Tournament will take place. Holiday Happening: The Youth Center will host its “Holiday Happening” Give-A-Way on Tuesday, December 18th. Participants at the Youth Center will receive tickets to be entered into a drawing for free treats and a few  “Special Surprises”, celebrating this holiday season.


PIZZA PARLE: Pizza Parle’:  Due to a holiday celebration the December Pizza Parle , set for Wednesday, December 19th, has been cancelled. The next Pizza Parle will be on Wednesday, January, 16th at 6:00pm.


Free Food Ministry: On the second and fourth Tuesday, of every month a simplified food pantry will be distributing food from the backroom of the GW Carver Center, between the hours of 3:30pm -5:30pm.  Thanks to the efforts of Mr. & Mrs. Ellison, this pantry is up and running. NOTE: Due to the Christmas Holiday, this program will only be available this month on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.
