Welcome Jordan Butler, new Youth Center Director:  Jordan Butler was recently named Youth Center Director and will replace former director Cheryl Massaro.  Cheryl retired on December 31 after 13 ½ years of outstanding service as the Flagler County Youth Center Director.  Jordan comes to the Youth Center after 14 years in the classroom as a history teacher.  His latest position was a Dean at Flagler Palm Coast High School. Jordan has also spent the last 9 years of his career in Flagler County as the baseball coach at FPC.  Prior to starting his teaching career, Jordan played baseball at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Studies with minors in communication, business administration and psychology.  He also earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. Jordan comes into the director position with a very good background in education, discipline, athletics, and leadership and hopes to use those skills to continue the successful programs that Cheryl Massaro started.

Road To Success Program:   RTS has helped 188 young adults earn their GEDs to date with 26 of those earning honors.   RTS is a year-round program and we are enrolling now for February. RTS enrolls 45 students per year, we focus on GED prep, life skills and pre-employment training. Over the last several months RTS has had 95.5% of students graduating with their GEDs and a job or post-secondary education.  We had two interns successfully complete their internships this month, on-the-job training at the Habitat for Humanity’s resale store. In January we will be starting up new internships for students at the Flagler Humane Society. We will also have workshops by FTI’s Travis Thomas, Lauren Roeck from Wells Fargo, graduation pictures by photographer Cher Philio and all students will be completing a series of mock interviewing. If you have any questions about our Youth Program please contact Taahira Lee, Case manager 437-7526 ext. 1189 or Brian Willard, Program Manager @ 386-437-8279.
