G.W Carver Center Hours of Operation:  Road to Success,  Monday - Friday  9:00am -2:00pm, Carver Youth Center,  Monday- Friday: 2:00pm-7:00pm. Open Gym, 4:00pm - 6:00pm. For compete hours please refer to the calendar.

GW Carver’s New Sign-In Procedure: Recent increase of security has resulted in the need for EVERYONE utilizing the GW Carver Community Center to Log In, when they enter. A computer is located at the buildings main entrance and each individual, youth & adults, must complete the Sign-In Form, before entering the facility. Once you are signed in, there is no need to sign out, for your admission is good for the entire day.


Road To Success Program: RTS has helped 167 young adults earn their GEDs to date with 20 of those earning honors.   RTS is a year-round program and we are enrolling now for September and October.  RTS enrolls 45 students per year, we currently have 37 seats left and have a waiting list for September.  Over the last several months RTS has had 100% of students graduating with their GEDs and a job or post-secondary education.   Last year RTS had seven students enter and complete a “paid work experience” while earning over a total of $10,000.Our events this month included: A field trip to the Museum of Arts and Science in Daytona, Graduation pictures completed, Food handler’s certification, Mock interviewing sessions and Wells Fargo banking overview of financials. In September we look forward to having the UCF nursing students come back out and conduct health and career workshops, and Linda Broxton will be conducting First Aid & CPR certification.If you have any questions about our Youth Program please contact either Taahira Lee, Case manager 437-7526 ext. 1189 or Brian Willard, Program Manager @ 386-437-8279.


GW Carver Staffing: For another year the Reverend Elijah Emanuel, Facility Manager, returns to oversee daily operations of the GW Carver Community Center. Rev. Emanuel is assisted by the very competent Assistance Facility Manager: Andrea Johnson Mcleod. Should you have any questions or are interested i utilizing the facility, please speak directly to either employee, for their assistance.


GW Carver Governance Board: The governing body of the GW Carver Community Center, met on Thursday, August 16th at 10am. The Governance Board is responsible for contributing to the Financial Needs of the center, by funding it annually through their organization. Members include representatives from: Flagler Board of Commissioners, Flagler School Board, City of Bunnell, Flagler County Sheriff's Office, GW Carver Alumni Association, teh GW Carver Foundation, as well as a few At-Large Representatives. It was a wonderful meeting with a number of items addressed and a few suggestions provided.


Welcome Back Ice Cream Celebration: Wednesday, September 12th at 4:00pm: What better way to start a new school year off than with FREE ICE CREAM! Be at the Carver Center on Wednesday, September 12th, at 4:00pm, for your choice of popsicles available to all participants.


WANTED DRUMMERS: Got the BEAT?? If you do, we have the drums for you to use! Anyone interested in learning how to drum is welcome to use Carver’s Drum Sets. Thanks to the generosity of some community members, Carver has obtained complete Drum Sets, that are available for area youth to learn on. If you’ve got the BEAT, check with Reverend Emanuel how YOU can become one of the Carver Drummers!

Pizza Parle’:  Area youth are invited monthly to share pizza and treats with area Law Enforcement, Faith Representatives, Professionals and Community members for great conversation, and building relationships.  This years events will be held on: 9/19, 10/17, 11/28, 12/19, 1/16, 2/20, 3/20, 4/17, and 5/15. Anyone interested in attending should check with Reverend Emanuel.
