Road to Success

The Road to Success (RTS) Youth Program is a FREE educational and training program designed for out-of-school youth – ages 16 -24, located in the George Washington Carver Center (201 East Drain Street, Bunnell, FL 32210). The goal of the program is to give young individuals an opportunity to obtain a general education diploma (GED), which is accepted at all major colleges and military branches, become members of the workforce, and improve their quality of life.

GENERAL INFO: 
The enrollment process requires that the youth or parent sets an appointment for a pre-screen and the youth takes a TABE test, which provides information about the academic level of the individual.

  • The testing takes about an hour.
  • It is recommended that a tour of the facility be taken, as well.
  • NOTE: TABE tests can be taken MONDAYS through FRIDAYS 8:30AM-1:00PM. 
  • If accepted into the program, the following documents are needed for enrollment:  1. Birth Certificate, 2. Social Security, 3. Driver’s/Permit License or State ID

Enrolled students receive:

  • GED prep and remediation
  • Job readiness training
  • Functional life skills
  • Mentoring
  • Job/Career coaching
  • Graduation pictures
  • Participation in a yearly graduation ceremony held at FPC Auditorium in conjunction with Flagler Technical College graduating students
  • Opportunities for paid internship with our partner businesses
  • Opportunities for CPR/1st Aid and/or Food Handler certifications
  • Possibility of participation in student success class based upon entrepreneurship principles

CLASS INFO:

  • Classes are Monday – Friday, excluding holidays.
  • They are two sessions each day:
              Morning: 10:00am-10:45am, 15-minute break (cannot leave campus), 11:00am-11:45am
              Afternoon: 12:00pm-12:45pm, 15-minute break (cannot leave campus), 1:00pm-1:45pm
  • On Fridays, students take GED practice tests, online TABE tests, receive assistance with resume writing and job searching, and college or military admissions.
  • Presentations from community partners are given during the week relating to life and job skills.
  • Additional tutoring can be scheduled directly with teachers.
  • Attendance and being on time to class are mandatory.
  • There is no cell phone use in class.
